Hi, NOCO Crew!

Old Town flips the switch on its holiday lights Friday night. That feels early until you notice it's pretty dark not long after 5pm. The trees stay lit through February, so we're calling it: cozy season has officially started.

Veterans Day lands on Wednesday, and a few places are celebrating early. The Greeley Philharmonic's brass ensemble plays Salute to Service in Windsor on Friday and Greeley on Saturday, and Loveland's Bell Ringer 2-Miler on Saturday morning raises money for The American Legion’s Post 2000 veterans assistance program.

Elsewhere, Dracula is still stalking the Lincoln Center, a Fort Morgan bike shop is riding out to a bonfire for Guy Fawkes Night, and the black-footed ferrets at the Museum of Discovery eat in front of an audience Saturday morning.

Grab a coffee, and let's dig in!

– Megan & David

Every contribution keeps us out in the field, digging into local history, and showing up for the towns we cover. We're grateful for every bit of support. Thanks for being part of this.

— Megan & David

From Berthoud to the Wyoming state line, Fort Morgan to Estes, each week we pull together a list of the top events happening all over Northern Colorado. If you'd like to add an event to upcoming issues, hit reply and let us know.

November 5 – 11, 2026

The Biggest Event

Downtown Holiday Lighting Ceremony

Old Town Square (Fort Collins) — Friday 5:30–7pm, lights on around 6:30pm

Old Town turns on its holiday lights Friday night. Thousands of LED bulbs wrap the downtown trees, illuminating our wintery streets through February.

Live music starts on the Old Town Square stage at 5:30pm. Around 6:30pm, the city says a few words, everybody counts down, and the trees light up all at once. It's free, it's outside, and it's wrapped by 7pm, which makes it an easy one for little kids.

Getting there is the hard part. Walnut Street, the 200 block of Linden, and Mountain between College and Remington close at 3pm, and any vehicles left in the posted no-parking zones gets towed to the Northside Aztlan Community Center. Try the Old Town, Civic Center, or Firehouse Alley garages (the Old Town garage entrance is on westbound Mountain right now, not Remington), or walk, bike, or bus in. Text FCLIGHTS to 888-777 for event alerts.

It's also First Friday. Once the lights are on, Wolverine Farm Publick House keeps its First Friday going until 9pm.

Five More Worth the Trip

Salute to Service

Windsor First United Methodist Church (Windsor) — Fri 7pm · Generations Church (Greeley) — Sat 7pm

The Greeley Philharmonic Brass Ensemble, led by Dr. Frank Cook, plays two Salute to Service concerts ahead of Veterans Day. Expect Sousa (“Semper Fidelis,” “The Stars and Stripes Forever”), the “Armed Forces Salute,” and the “U.S. Navy Hymn.” Can't make it in person? There's a livestream ticket, too.

Make a weekend of it: Saturday morning, Loveland's Bell Ringer 2-Miler starts at 9am at North Lake Park, with a ruck division alongside the run. It's $25, and proceeds go to The American Legion’s Post 2000 veterans assistance program. And all week, through the 11th, Wiley Roots in Greeley is running Buy A Vet A Beer.

Rocky Mountain Craft Spirits (& Brew) Festival

Estes Park Events Complex (Estes Park) — Sat noon–5pm

More than 40 Colorado vendors set up for an afternoon of craft spirits, beer, and non-alcoholic drinks, with distillers on hand to talk shop. The theme is part Prohibition speakeasy, part Wild West, so dress the part if you like. The $53.17 Spirit Sampling ticket (21+) gets you unlimited spirit tastings and a souvenir glass; the $29.53 general ticket is admission only. Pick your designated driver before you head up the canyon!

Buckethead at The Stanley

The Stanley Hotel (Estes Park) — Fri & Sat 6pm

The masked guitarist plays two nights at the Stanley. Show is 21+, no exceptions. If you're already up for Saturday's spirits festival, it lets out at 5pm and Buckethead starts at 6pm, so the whole day can happen in one trip up the canyon (again, with a sober driver, please).

Fall Maker's Market at the Mishawaka

The Mishawaka Amphitheatre (Bellvue) — Sat & Sun 11am–4pm

A free maker's market up the canyon at the Mish, both days of the weekend. Shop local makers, then take the long way home along the Poudre while there's still light to see it.

Guy Fawkes Bonfire Night Ride

Bicycle Adventure (Fort Morgan) — Thu 6–8pm

November 5 is Guy Fawkes Night in England, and Fort Morgan's Bicycle Adventure is celebrating it properly: a group ride through town that ends at a bonfire, with storytelling, hot drinks, and treats. Lights on, layers on. Meet at the shop, 319 Main Street.
